20/06/08 - Year 8 Maths Challenge

UK Maths Challenge

Well done to the 23 Year 8 students who took part in this year's Junior Mathematical Challenge in May. Particular congratulations go to Lucy Gardiner who received the best in school award and a Silver certificate. Also congratulations to Steph Coombs, Roxanne Hitchings and Liam Hawkes for receiving silver certificates and to Paige Hatherall and Connor Bressington for receiving bronze certificates. Overall the students sat the exam very sensibly and on average attempted more of the harder questions than students from other schools across the UK, showing that Hartcliffe students will not give up on a challenge!

19/05/08 - Year 11 Boys Football

Congratulations to the Year 11 boys team for their victory 2-1 over Hanham in the final, played at Fry's in Keynsham. It was a very tense and hard fought final; the score was 1-1 at the end of normal time and so the agony of extra time followed. The winning goal was scored by Sam Downes and can be seen in this video clip.

Engineering Day 4

Tuesday 25th was Engineering day 4 - each year group was attached to a curriculum area and were able to complete all sorts of extended tasks. Y11 were grateful for some extra sport at this tense time in their year, and Y8 enjoyed their maths session. There will be another Engineering day on the 26th June.

Non Uniform Day

Wednesday was non-uniform day for all students and staff. Credit should go to all concerned for their good conduct on the day, and it meant that several hundred pounds was raised to support our St Lucia Project.
